What kind of street is Le Thanh Ton (Japan Town)?
Lê Thánh Tôn runs through the middle of District 1. Japanese restaurants, izakayas and bars cluster in the 15B alley off Le Thanh Ton and the alleys on the Thái Văn Lung side, which is why people call the area Japan Town or Little Japan. The Japanese venues are concentrated along about 300 m of the street and spill into Thái Văn Lung, Thi Sách and Ngô Văn Năm. Twenty years ago the 15B alley had only a handful of Japanese restaurants (VnExpress 2020-03-02).
The crowd is mostly expatriates and travellers, and the mood is quieter than Bui Vien. The same article says restaurants usually close around 22:00 and some bars stay open until about 01:00 — but that was 2020, and closing times now differ venue by venue.

Even on the same street, line items differ from venue to venue, so there is no average that could honestly be called 'the going rate'. How to choose in 5 steps
- Is there a price list? If not, do not sit down. 'Có menu không?' (Is there a menu?) is enough.
- Is the table charge per person or per table? The gap grows with your group.
- Are the hostess's drink and a seating fee separate, or is it timed? This is where a hostess-bar bill grows.
- Do snacks arrive automatically, and if so what do they cost?

Getting there and opening hours
Type the full address into Grab: 'Hem 15B Le Thanh Ton, District 1, HCMC'. Cars cannot enter the alley, so you get out on the main road (15B Le Thanh Ton) and walk to the alley entrance; the 15B alley is open at all hours. Hours differ by venue. Rabbit Bar is open daily 20:00–04:00, so it works as a first stop after dinner or as a late stop after somewhere else (Guide 20 Open at 2 am). A Japan Town evening — what time, in what order
- 18:00–20:00 Dinner at an izakaya or Japanese restaurant. Many restaurants are described as closing around 22:00 (VnExpress 2020-03-02).
- From 20:00, the bars. Price list first, before anything else. Rabbit Bar opens at 20:00.
- If you want to walk, the alleys around 15B are a few minutes apart on foot; the area is marked on the night map.

- Go home by Grab or Xanh SM, booked in the app. The UK government advises using official ride-hailing apps and warns that in Vietnam any detectable alcohol while driving can mean a fine or imprisonment (FCDO, 2026-09-21).
